TO MY FRIENDS IN THE US AND ELSEWHERE:
Dear All,

Well, you’ve been reading the news and by now everything anyone can say about the Greek situation has been said and written.
After 5 years of constant, daily anguish, of countless what ifs and whens we are finally arriving at the denouement. If not today, within the next 12 days we will know where the future of this country lies.
Greece will never be the same, for better or for worse. In my opinion for worse.
It took only five months for this insane government to flush down the drain five years of sacrifices by the whole country. With the unfortunate support of armchair economists from around the world, like Paul Krugman, who have nothing to lose on a personal level and everything to gain by playing out theories on our backs, the Syriza-Anel government has lied, cheated, procrastinated and insulted our European partners turning Greece, once again, into a pariah.
Today there is not a single European country left willing to support Greece and, indeed, why should they?

Money is now running out (physically) and all business is at a standstill. People are going on spending sprees, using their credit cards to get rid of cash from their banking accounts before the government takes it all. It’s like the Titanic or the last days of Pompey!

We might be saved yet, from ourselves, but chances are slim. Whatever the outcome it will take us many years before we get back to “normal”.
